IDEAS for an Introvert?

The introvert guide to taking authentic photos, and actually having fun in the process!
“I hate being the center of attention”
“Some of the cheesy poses that I see in the magazines are just… so not me” “Thinking about all the photos we have to take on our wedding day gives me anxiety”
Sound familiar?
(come on, raise your hand – don’t be shy!) 🙋‍♀️
It sounds familiar to me too because I hear this ALL. THE. TIME. from my amazing couples. In fact, it’s usually the first topic of conversation in my one-on-one meetings. You’re not alone, and I’ve got your back with my pro tips that I’ve compiled from shooting over a hundred weddings.

1. Meet your photographer in person before signing a contract.

This is so important. Your photographer will be there for you throughout the entire wedding day, and you want someone who’s gonna bring good vibes only. Whether you meet in person, or virtually via Facetime, that face to face meeting gives you and your photographer a chance to get to know each other, and figure out if you’re a good match. It’s kinda like speed dating – when you know, you know. And when you know you have an easy-going, compassionate, and trustworthy photographer who’s truly in your corner – you’ll be able to relax and let your love shine through (so I can capture it for you).

2. Take Engagement Photos.

I know what you’re thinking…MORE photos?! I hate the spotlight! I hear you – but trust me, being an introvert is the number one reason why you SHOULD do engagement photos. Why? Because you get a feel for what the wedding day is going to be like (and you’ll realize, it’s not at all bad like you were thinking). The worst part of anxiety is fear of the unknown – and having the opportunity to take professional photos in advance shows you how organic and easy the process actually is. Plus, time together before the wedding also allows us to see what works and what doesn’t. You won’t need to spend as much time taking photos on the big day. And as an added bonus, you get to see how beautiful you look in the photos and realize that yes, you too, are worthy and totally capable of an amazing wedding album.

3. You don’t have to do any cheesy poses (really).

That’s right – I will never, ever make my clients pose a certain way. I’ll make suggestions to guide you through the process, but there’s no one size fits all when it comes to poses that look best – it depends on the couple, and that’s what makes my job fun. I love tailoring each shoot to make my couples feel like themselves so I can showcase them in the best possible way. Prom-style photos are NOT my thing, my style is capturing fresh, organic moments. Whether it’s a split second look when you lock eyes with your fiance or an expression of gratitude when the doors open to your ceremony – I am here to capture that on film so you can remember what’s most important about your wedding day, the love that was shared!

4. Have a glass of champagne because girl, it’s YOUR wedding day!

The best wedding photos come from a couple who’s living in the moment and enjoying every second of the big day. So if you wanna cry, cry! If you want to laugh, laugh! Live every minute, and take it all in.
With a professional photographer such as myself, you’ll be able to savor each milestone of the day and not worry about the photos – most of the time, you won’t even notice me taking them, I promise! And when it does come time for those “dreaded” formal shots? We’ll feel like old friends after the engagement photos, so much so, that you might even be looking forward to the photos instead of stressing about them. Don’t believe me?
