The day began inside The Waterfront Beach Resort, a Hilton Hotel, where the large windows and beautiful natural light gave us wonderful opportunities for getting-ready photographs and portraits. One of my favorite moments was the couple seeing each other for the first time. Rather than over-directing the moment, I allowed them the space to experience it together, resulting in emotional photographs that feel genuine.
The hotel’s architecture also gave us plenty of variety. The dramatic arched windows, bright hallways, staircases, and clean white walls created beautiful backdrops without leaving the property. Of course, we couldn’t photograph a wedding in Huntington Beach without heading toward the ocean. The beach, Huntington Beach Pier, and iconic lifeguard towers gave us completely different scenery within minutes of the hotel. As the light softened, we finished with romantic beach portraits and a few unexpected moments that captured the day’s energy.
